The ends of the ring was fused together. To achieve enough heat in such a small localised area an oxy acetylene torch was used. The fusion join allowed the ring to remain pure 24 carat gold. No foreign materials were added, which meant less variables with in the results.
The experiment was extended, the whole process was repeated twice in pure silver. One of the fine silver rings will be oxidised black. The aim will remain the same: to track and document the narrative of a wearable object. The increase in the number of materials will allow for comparing and contrasting of said materials.
